Succinic acid, also known as Amber acid, is a binary carboxylic acid in the form of a white powder. It is widely used in pharmaceuticals, spices, food preservation, condiments, food additives, surfactants and other industries; it is used in large quantities in the production of biodegradable plastics PBS, PBST, PBSA, clothing bio-fibres, polyurethane, polyether and other polyester products.
Main Usage
Widely used in medicine, spices, food preservation, condiments, food additives, surfactants and other industries; widely used in the production of degradable plastics PBS, PBST, PBSA, clothing biofibers, polyurethane, polyether and other polyesters product.
Detailed Applications
In food processing, succinic acid is an ideal souring agent and is utilized as a main raw material for the production of sodium glutamate, sodium succinate, food preservation, condiments, spices, and other food additives.
In the polyester industry, succinic acid is a key raw material for the synthesis of degradable plastics PBS, PBST, and PBSA. The main raw material for the production of succinimide, nylon 54, and other polymer materials.
In medicine and health, sodium succinate has the effect of curing coma, the ammonium salt of succinic acid can be utilized as a sedative, and succinic acid and its anhydrides are used in the manufacture of sulfonamides, vitamins A, and B6, hemostatic drugs, and cortisone derivatives. Succinic acid has a detoxification effect on barbiturate poisoning, and erythromycin ethyl succinate also recognized as Lijunsha, is a commonly used oral antibacterial drug.
In agriculture, succinic acid is a plant growth hormone, that can control plant growth, regulate nutrients, and increase drought resistance, disease resistance, and frost resistance. When applied to crops, it can typically increase yield by 10%-20%. It is also utilized to treat barley. Smut, is utilized as an additive to herbicides.
In photographic usage, succinic acid is also utilized as an intermediate in the synthesis of photographic chemicals. The condensation product of succinate and 2,6-aminopyridine is widely utilized as a solid acid pigment in photographic negatives, and gelatin reacts with succinic acid to provide a carrier for improving the performance of silver halide photographic emulsions.
Succinic acid derivatives are good surfactants and are also ingredients in detergents, soaps, and demulsifiers; Succinic acid can produce depilatory agents, toothpastes, cleaning agents, and high-efficiency wrinkle-removing cosmetic esters.
Succinic acid is also utilized in fuels, lubricants, additives, and elastomers. Succinic acid accelerates and stabilizes electroless nickel plating.
