Application

Detergent builders

Sodium tripolyphosphate has excellent properties of chelating hard metal ions, which can eliminate the adverse effects of these metal ions. It has the function of swelling and solubilizing for protein and plays the effect of gelatinization. For fatty substances, it can promote emulsification. It has a dispersive suspension effect on solid particles.

Water softener

Calcium and magnesium ions in hard water form white complex precipitation with sodium tripolyphosphate. After removing the precipitation, it is soft water.

Ceramic Water Reducer

The ceramic powder is dispersed in water and aggregated to form a slurry of particle clusters. Sodium tripolyphosphate water reducer is added to the slurry, in which the molecules of sodium tripolyphosphate water reducer can be adsorbed on the surface of ceramic particles in the slurry, and the flocculation between particles can be destroyed through adsorption interaction, so as to obtain the slurry with good dispersion and fluidity.

By reducing the number of molecules in the hydration layer through sodium ion, the excess adsorbed water is released, and the content of free water in the mud is increased to achieve the effect of water reduction.

Q1:What are the classifications of sodium tripolyphosphate ?

A: According to the structure and shape, the anhydrates are divided into white powder anhydrates (Na5P 3O 10) and rectangular parallelepiped crystal hexahydrates (Na5P 3O 10·6H 2O), which are classified as type I and type II. Sodium tripolyphosphate for industrial use is actually a mixture of type I and type II. Type I has a fast dissolution rate, large thermal effect when hydrated to form hexahydrate, and easy moisture absorption in the atmosphere. Type II moisture absorption is slow, not easy to caking. Therefore, the type I content of sodium tripolyphosphate in detergents should not be too high, generally controlled at 10 to 30%.
