White powder, flakes or granules. Soluble in water, its aqueous solution is alkaline; insoluble in alcohol. Deliquescence easily. Exposure to moist air absorbs water to form dihydrate to heptahydrate.

Purpose and Application:
In industry, it is used as industrial water quality treatment agent, quality improver, neutralizer, antibiotic culture agent and biochemical treatment agent. It is used to make citric acid, water softener, fabric weight increasing agent, fire retardant, fire retardant for wood and paper, as well as glaze flux, welding flux, pigment and raw materials for making sodium pyrophosphate and other phosphates.
In printing and dyeing, it is used as stabilizer for hydrogen peroxide bleaching and filler for rayon (to enhance the strength and elasticity of the silk).
