Boric acid

1. Used in the production of optical glass, acid-resistant glass, organic boron glass and other advanced glass and glass fibres, it can improve the heat resistance and transparency of glass, increase the mechanical strength and shorten the melting time.

2. In the ceramics industry, boric acid is a very good flux and network formers, boron is also an important component of lead-free glaze, while improving the speed of colouring, used in the production of glaze, can reduce the thermal expansion of glaze, reduce the curing temperature of glaze, thus preventing cracking and deglazing, improve the gloss and firmness of products.

3. In industrial production, it is used to produce various borates, such as sodium borohydride, ammonium borate, cadmium borotungstate, potassium borohydride, etc.

4. In cutting fluids boric acid is mainly used for lubrication, rust prevention and anti-bacteria, and is added to lubricants, brake fluids, metalworking fluids, water treatment agents and fuel additives.

5. In the jewellery industry, boric acid is often used in combination with denatured alcohols to reduce oxidation and flame formation on metal surfaces during annealing and welding operations.

6. Boric acid is also used in the production of glass for LCD flat panel displays.

7. It is also used agriculturally as a foliar fertiliser to replenish plants and soil with boron.

8. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used in the production of boric acid ointments, disinfectants, astringents, antiseptics, etc.
