DMC is a colorless, transparent and pungent liquid at room temperature, with a relative density of 1.0694, a melting point of 4℃, a boiling point of 90.3℃, a flash point of 21.7℃ (open) and a refractive index of (ND20) of 1.3687, which is flammable and nontoxic. It can be mixed with almost all organic solvents such as alcohol, ketone and ester in any proportion, and slightly soluble in water.
Main usage
① Applications in the solvent field,
DMC can replace freon, trichloroethane, trichloroethylene, benzene, xylene and so on for paint coating, cleaning solvent. In addition, DMC can also be used as an additive in cleaning agents, surfactants and softeners.
② For the production of polycarbonate.
Production of polycarbonate. Polycarbonate (PC) is a strong thermoplastic resin with high strength and high transparency. It is the fastest growing general engineering plastic among the five major engineering plastics. Dimethyl carbonate (DMC) is one of the important raw materials of non-phosgene polycarbonate (PC).
③ Production of electrolyte solvents for lithium batteries;
Production of electrolyte solvent for lithium batteries; Solvent is the main component of electrolyte, accounting for about 80% of its quality in the current market to carbonate solvents, the main varieties are dimethyl carbonate (DMC), diethyl carbonate (DEC), methyl ethyl carbonate (EMC) and so on.
