Dipropylene glycol methyl ether is a colorless, viscous liquid of organic matter with a pleasant odor. It is miscible with water and many organic solvents. It is prepared by hydration of 1, 2-propylene oxide to produce dipropylene glycol, which is then reacted with methanol. Mainly used as a solvent for paints, dyes, and brake oil components.
Application
It is used as the solvent of nitrocellulose, ethyl cellulose, polyvinyl acetate, etc., the solvent of paint and dye, and also the component of brake oil. it is used as a solvent for printing inks and lacquers, as well as cleaning solvent for cutting oil and working oil. used as coupling agent for water-based dilution coatings (often mixed); active solvent for water-based coatings; solvents and coupling agents for household and industrial cleaners, grease and paint removers, metal cleaners, hard surface cleaners; the basic solvent and coupling agent of solvent-based screen printing ink; reducing dye fabric coupling agent, solvent; coupling agents and skin care agents for cosmetic formulations; stabilizers of agricultural insecticides; coagulant for ground brightener.
