Potassium formate is an organic salt with the chemical formula HCOOK. It is a white solid, easily absorbs moisture, has reducing properties, can react with strong oxidizing agents, has a density of 1.9100g/cm3, is soluble in water, is non-toxic and non-corrosive.The aqueous solution is a colorless transparent liquid, and the specific gravity of the saturated solution is 1.58 g/cm3.
Application
1. In the oilfield industry, it is used as a drilling fluid, completion fluid, and workover fluid with excellent performance.
2. In the snow melting agent industry, the additive acetate has been eliminated because the smell of acetic acid in the air after snow melting is too strong and causes a certain degree of corrosion to the ground, etc. Potassium formate not only has good snow melting properties, but also overcomes all the disadvantages of acetate and is well received by the public and environmentalists.；
3. In the leather industry, it is used as a camouflage acid in chrome tanning.
4. In the printing and dyeing industry, it is used as a reducing agent.
5. In the construction industry, it can be used as an early strengthening agent for grout.
