Sodium bicarbonate is an inorganic compound, white crystalline powder, odorless, salty and easily soluble in water. In moist air or hot air, it slowly decomposes, producing carbon dioxide, which is completely decomposed when heated to 270℃. When exposed to acid, they decompose strongly, producing carbon dioxide.
Application
In food processing, sodium bicarbonate is one of the most widely used relaxing agents for the production of cookies, bread, etc. It is used as a color guard for fruits and vegetables in vegetable processing.
In industry, sodium bicarbonate can be used in the production of acid and alkali fire extinguishers and foam fire extinguishers, and in the rubber industry sodium bicarbonate can be used in the production of rubber and sponge.
In laboratory use, sodium bicarbonate can be used as analytical reagent, and also used in inorganic synthesis. It can be used to prepare sodium carbonate-sodium bicarbonate buffer solution, which can keep the hydrogen ion concentration from changing significantly when adding a small amount of acid or base, and can keep the pH of the system relatively stable.
In agriculture and animal husbandry, sodium bicarbonate can be used for agricultural seed dipping, and it can also make up for the lack of lysine content in feed. Dissolving sodium bicarbonate in a small amount of water or mixing it into concentrate for cattle (adding it in appropriate amount) can promote the growth of cattle, and can also significantly improve the milk production of cows.
In medicine, sodium bicarbonate can be used as a raw material for pharmaceuticals to treat excessive stomach acidity and metabolic acidosis, and can also alkalize urine to prevent uric acid kidney stones.
