Colorless monoclinic crystals or pearly crystals or white crystalline powders. The relative density is 1.388. Odorless and salty. Easily soluble in water, ethanol and glycerin; Slightly soluble in ammonia and ammonia water; Insoluble in ether. The water solution is neutral, and the solubility in 100 ℃ water is 667g/lOOg water. It is easy to deliquescence. It is stable when it is stored in a dry state. When it is heated to more than 200 ℃, it will rapidly decompose and release toxic phosphine that can spontaneously ignite. It will explode in case of strong heat, and will explode when mixed with potassium chlorate or other oxidants. Sodium hypophosphite is a strong reducing agent, which can reduce the salts of gold, silver, mercury, nickel, chromium, diamond, etc. into metal state. Under normal pressure, the sodium hypophosphite solution will explode when heated and evaporated, so the evaporation should be carried out under reduced pressure.

Purpose and Application

In industry, it is the main raw material of halogen-free flame retardant calcium aluminum hypophosphate, because of its high purity, high qualification rate, less impurities and heavy metal compounds in line with the European Union ROHS requirements. Although common bromine chloride flame retardants are effective, they have carcinogenic effects after incineration, so they have been banned in the EU. It is an ideal choice for halogen-free flame retardant production, especially in the industrial plastic flame retardant industry.


In terms of water treatment, the main components of scale inhibitors used in oil field pipelines in the petroleum industry and sewage treatment agents in the paper industry. At present, sodium hypophosphite has been mixed into concrete adjuvants at home and abroad, and the amount is increasing year by year.


In terms of chemical agents, nickel sulfate is electroless plated at 1:1. The metal surface has corrosion resistance, wear resistance, uniform density and strong phosphorus nickel coating. It can replace stainless steel materials and is widely used in electronics, machinery, petroleum, OEM, aviation, navigation, food, medicine and other industries.
