Sodium Gluconate

Formulated as C6H11NaO7, sodium gluconate is an organic material. In industry, it is commonly utilized. Sodium gluconate finds applications in steel surface cleaning, glass bottle cleaning, aluminum-oxygen coloring, textile printing and dyeing, water treatment, and construction industries. It is also utilized as a high-efficiency retarder and high-efficiency water reducer in the concrete industry.

Sodium Gluconate

Synonyms: D-Gluconic acid;

Molecular formula: C6H11NaO7

CAS No: 527-07-1

UN NO: N/A

Application:

1. Concrete retarder and water reducer: An additive that can postpone the cement's hydration reaction, extending the concrete's condensation time, allowing the freshly mixed concrete to retain its plasticity for an extended length of time, facilitate pouring, increase construction efficiency, and avoid negative effects on the concrete's performance later on. In addition to delaying the concrete's condensation time, mixing retarders during summertime and large-volume concrete construction can also postpone the cement's hydration and heating, which can lower the risk of construction accidents that result in concrete cracks from the heat of hydration's temperature stress.

2. The food, beverage, and brewing industries utilize hundreds of millions of glass bottles on a daily basis. These include bottles for wine, soda, beer, milk, cans, and soy sauce. The cleaning process is crucial, and creating the cleaning agent's pharmaceutical composition requires complex technical labor. China does not currently have the perfect medication. The primary issues are: the bottle washing machine's weak descaling power makes it simple to clog the nozzle and pipeline; the decontamination power of bottle stickers and bottleneck rust is subpar; and the trace residues left behind after washing are not optimal for food safety (such as phosphate residues). The following issues can be resolved if sodium gluconate is utilized as the primary ingredient in the pharmaceutical formula of its glass bottle cleanser.

Currently, the washing water discharged into a public danger cannot exceed the state's criteria.

3. Used as a steel surface cleaning agent: the surface of the billet must be meticulously cleaned in order to ensure that the coating is firmly combined with the steel surface if the steel surface needs to be nickel-plated, chrome-plated, and nickel-plated to adapt to special purposes, such as the manufacture of tinplate, galvanized sheet, surface chrome-plated (conductivity), etc. Sodium gluconate added to the cleaning chemical at this time will produce an extremely optimal result. In relation to food additives, the pH buffering role of sodium gluconate has a buffering pH of 3–4, making it appropriate for food additives in low pH buffered dosage forms. The beverage has a pH of less than 4, and it is often sterilized for 10 minutes at 65°C. This ensures the sterilizing effect while conserving energy and maintaining the beverage's flavor. Other organic salts may not be as good as sodium gluconate, and sterilization below pH 4 is challenging to do in order to fulfill the aforementioned specifications.

4. Taste enhancer: Sodium gluconate has a pleasant flavor on its own and can be used to cover up odor and bitterness. For instance, it works better than other organic salts at hiding the harshness of magnesium ions and the smell of fish. The flavor of the high-sweetened sweeteners aspartame, stevia, and saccharin has been markedly enhanced by sodium gluconate. The same sweet flavor as granulated sugar can be produced by combining aspartame with sodium gluconate.

5. Food preservatives: salt improves flavor and sterilizes food, but too much of it is extremely toxic to human health. For flavor fermentation, sodium gluconate can be used in place of salt, and it can also be used to manufacture unsalted or salt-reducing bread in place of 10% salt. It can be used for a number of things, including dehydration and food preservation. Reduce the amount of salt in food at the same time.

6. Nutritional supplements: Sodium gluconate's alkaline properties help maintain a balanced level of alkalinity in the body. It is crucial for preserving both external osmotic pressure and cell capacity. Moreover, it can avert hyponatremia syndrome concurrently. Additionally, it can be taken in place of salt to lessen the body's absorption of sodium, which helps calm nervous tension.
